It’s most celebrated comedy movie franchise in history… so why does so much of it suck?

This week on THE TWO-SHOT, film critics William Bibbiani and Witney Seibold explore all eleven feature films in the PINK PANTHER series, from brilliant Peter Sellers installments, to the bizarre Alan Arkin one-off, to the embarrassing attempts to keep the franchise alive after Sellers’ death, to the weird one with Roberto Benigni, to the often underrated reboot with Steve Martin!

Canceled Too Soon #164: Nearly Departed (1989)

Eric Idle from MONTY PYTHON stars in American sitcom about a pair of upper class ghosts haunting the middle class family that moves into their old house! It sounds like BEETLEJUICE but it's not. It's NEARLY DEPARTED, and it lasted only six short episodes in 1989.
Was this supernatural sitcom with a low-key catchy as hell theme song... CANCELED TOO SOON? We'll find out in this week's episode, where film critics William Bibbiani and Witney Seibold perform an autopsy on this forgotten sitcom, figure out why it's funny (and why it's not), and decide once and for all if NEARLY DEPARTED is dearly departed.

Give it a listen!

Critically Acclaimed #95: Rambo: Last Blood, 3 From Hell, Ad Astra and More!

Rambo is back and he’s bloodier than ever! Not as smart or as relevant, but bloodier, that’s for sure.

This week on CRITICALLY ACCLAIMED, William Bibbiani and Witney Seibold review RAMBO: LAST BLOOD as well as Rob Zombie’s 3 FROM HELL, James Gray’s AD ASTRA, Paolo Sorrentino’s LORO and the new horror-thrillers POLAROID and VILLAINS.

They also read your letters, say goodbye to the late, great Sid Haig, and prepare you for the next phase of the CRITICALLY ACCLAIMED podcast!

Canceled Too Soon #163: The Starlost (1973-1974)

Celebrated sci-fi author Harlan Ellison created a show Amish people who learn they're living in outer space, in a ship containing everyone on Earth as they flee an uninhabitable Earth! It's the very ambitious and extremely cheap TV series THE STARLOST, starring Keir Dullea from "2001: A Space Odyssey!"

Harlan Ellison had his name taken off "The Starlost" and replaced with, for some reason, "Cordwainer Bird." Was he right, or was this TV show... CANCELED TOO SOON?

Film critics William Bibbiani and Witney Seibold dissect this failed sci-fi experiment, debate its complex themes and try to endure its many silly, silly, SILLY episodes.

Give it a listen!

The Two-Shot: Dungeons and Dragons and The Adventures of Robin Hood!

The year before THE LORD OF THE RINGS changed cinema forever we finally got a live-action movie based on the RPG game DUNGEONS & DRAGONS… and it sucked. With an embarrassingly low budget, a cast of actors who are either out of their element or way too good for this, and a story that seems to be missing whole scenes, it’s one of the most embarrassing adventure films of the century.

So why is DUNGEONS & DRAGONS the perfect double feature with THE ADVENTURES OF ROBIN HOOD, the iconic 1938 action-adventure classic starring Errol Flynn? And why does ROBIN HOOD play so much better today than a film made in recent memory?

You’ll have to listen to THE TWO-SHOT to find out! Film critics William Bibbiani and Witney Seibold talk about the best and worst of cinema, every single week! And this week they’re joined by fellow critic Liz Shannon Miller!

Give it a listen!

Critically Acclaimed #94: Hustlers, Tigers Are Not Afraid, Letters and More!

Jennifer Lopez and Constance Wu are strippers scamming stock market moguls in HUSTLERS, one of the most critically acclaimed movies of the year!

How fitting, then, that film critics William Bibbiani and Witney Seibold are reviewing this smash success, and also several indies including TIGERS ARE NOT AFRAID, DEPRAVED, CHAINED FOR LIFE and ANOTHER DAY OF LIFE, and also answering your fan letters in an all-new episode of CRITICALLY ACCLAIMED!

The Two-Shot: Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters and The Love Witch!

What if Hansel and Gretel were badass witch murderers with steam punk guns and snarky attitudes? You’d probably get something like HANSEL AND GRETEL: WITCH HUNTERS, starring Jeremy Renner and Gemma Arterton as ultraviolent action heroes.

Why did critics balk at this weird attempt to jumpstart an R-rated fantasy franchise, and why is it the perfect double feature with Anna Biller’s acclaimed horror comedy THE LOVE WITCH, about a young witch whose attempts to find love go horribly awry?

You’ll have to listen to THE TWO-SHOT to find out! Film critics William Bibbiani and Witney Seibold talk about the best and worst of cinema, every single week! And this week they’re joined by fellow critic Liz Shannon Miller!

Give it a listen!

Canceled Too Soon #162: The Curious Creations of Christine McConnell (2018)

It's our first cooking show! This week on CANCELED TOO SOON, internet sensation Christine McConnell gets her own Netflix series about how to make delicious, spooky desserts. But it's also a sitcom about living with adorably homicidal monsters, brought to life as charmingly creepy puppets!
It's THE CURIOUS CREATIONS OF CHRISTINE MCCONNELL, and it may very well have been... Canceled Too Soon! Join film critics William Bibbiani and Witney Seibold as they dive into McConnell's tv series and recipes, and figure out what this show needed to do to get noticed. (Not debuting on the same day as "The Haunting of Hill House" probably would have helped...)

Critically Acclaimed #93: Every Stephen King Movie, from Carrie to It: Chapter 2!

Stephen King has been dominating Hollywood for over 40 years, and in this very special episode of CRITICALLY ACCLAIMED, film critics William Bibbiani and Witney Seibold are reviewing every* theatrically-released adaptation of his work!

That’s dozens of movies, and it’s all leading up to the eagerly awaited release of IT: CHAPTER 2! (We also review the new dance movie NEXT LEVEL, because that also opens this weekend.)

*Except one. Yeah, sorry, we forgot one and we didn't realize it until it was too late. But try to guess what we missed! We'll review it on the next episode to make up for the error.

Give it a listen!

The Two-Shot: The Dark Tower and The 5,000 Fingers of Dr. T!

If you thought Stephen King’s THE DARK TOWER was hard to adapt, how do you make a movie out of the wild imagination of Dr. Seuss way back in the 1950s?

Film critics William Bibbiani and Witney Seibold explore why King’s movie went wrong, and why THE 5,000 FINGERS OF DR. T gets Dr. Seuss just right, and may be one of the best fantasy movies you’ve never heard of!

It's an all-new episode of THE TWO-SHOT!

Canceled Too Soon #161: American Gothic (2016)

Our AMERICAN GOTHITHON concludes with another failed TV series called AMERICAN GOTHIC! The second series stars a fantastic ensemble - including Virginia Madsen, Justin Chatwin, Juliet Rylance and Catalina Sandino Moreno - in a complex whodunnit murder mystery, about what happens when one of the richest families in American learns that one of them is a serial killer!

Film critics William Bibbiani delve into this insidious series, and reveal whether it was really CANCELED TOO SOON, and whether it's better or worse than the other (completely unrelated) AMERICAN GOTHIC!

Give it a listen!
